About the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program The Ombudsman Program consists of a paid staff of three, a Regional Ombudsman and two Staff Ombudsmen, plus a cadre of specially trained and certified volunteers. We advocate for quality care in the 10 county Capital Area of Central Texas. Ombudsmen provide information to residents and families about their individual rights, help identify additional resources in or out of the nursing facility, and assist in the resolution of complaints by or on behalf of nursing facility residents. Volunteer Ombudsman Opportunity We need volunteers who can visit local area Nursing and Assisted Living Facilities. Our goal is to help provide the best possible quality of life for residents. Certification training is provided through the Ombudsman Program. Volunteers work under the direction of the Regional Ombudsman and have all the resources of the Ombudsman office for support. We make a difference one resident at a time.
